The European perch (Perca fluviatilis) is found in Europe and northern Asia. It is usually dark green with red fins. It has been introduced into both New Zealand and Australia for commercial purposes.
European perch occurs in slow-flowing rivers and deep lakes. They are most common in some of the brackish waters of the Baltic Sea. European perch are excellent eating fried or baked.
