Fish Facts: Striped Blenny – Chasmodes Bosquianus

This striped blenny is a tiny fish that lives in the spaces between the shells of an oyster bar to hide from predators. The male striped blenny has bright blue lines that run along its body that come together at the tail. The male also has a bright blue spot toward the front of the dorsal fin. The female blenny does not have the bright blue colors, but rather a series of light green lines running through the entire body. The feed on small animals that live near the oyster reef. The blenny may reach a length of only four inches.
