Fish Facts: Giant Damsel – Microspathodon Dorsalis

Giant Damsel as the name implies is huge for a damsel fish. Most damsel fish raach only a few inches in length, but the Giant Damsel as you can see gets quite a bit larger. They range in the Pacific ocean from the central Gulf of California to the Galapagos islands and from north of australia up some of the Asian coast.

Like most damsel fish the Giant Damsel in habit rocky reefs. They feed mainly on algae. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the hard surfaces where the males guard the eggs.
