Arawana, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum

Arawana also known as aruana are a fish of the Amazon Basin. They are popular food fish, sport fish, as well as aquarium fish. Arawana grow to quite large. Arawana is not a species that we are all that knowledgeable about. They are in fact mouth brooders and the young will keep an eggsack attached to them until they leave the mouth. A common name for them is "Amazonian Monkey Jumper" as they can use their tail to propel themselves out of the water suprisingly well
