My cousin and brother in law came in from out of state for Christams so I lined up a Louisiana hunt for them.
My brother in law, who had never killed a deer before, gets in the woods and around 2pm begins to see hogs. He gets in a young live oak tree (no stand). As he is standing on a branch two deer come out and he nails his mark for his first deer ever and he did it with a bow, while balancing on a branch 4 ft off of the ground. He later could have taken some pigs but decided not to because he had already taken an animal. He saw 20-30 hogs.
My cousin sees a bunch of hogs and he notices this boar walking down the trail with his teeth showing. His arrow hits its mark and an easy 50 yd trail leads him to his prize....185# boar with 2.75 in tusks. He saw about 15 hogs.
I set up on a trail and saw nothing till 5pm when this baor comes walking down the trail and offered a 15 yd shot. The pig went down within 15 yds. I saw another bigger boar that offered a little farther shot but I missed high. I saw only 2 hogs.
Can you believe my excitement when I walked to Keith and he told me he shot a boar, then we get to Mike who has his deer field dressed already!!!! Three successful hunts in one afternoon.
Great trip to spend with people we miss!
