Both hogs where taken in East Texas. Paul Kings brother, the one holding the rifle, took the boar pictured above, a 400 pounder, big and very, very fat. It was taken at midnight on a full moon night. The shield on this hog was 4 inches or more thick.
The other hog on the tailgate, pictured below, is a 250 pounder. He is one that they had trapped three years ago as a piglet, neutered, notched his ears and released back into the wild. Three years later he came into the corn tubes and Paul King took him at night. Thanks to cutting off his balls he didn't have all the hormones that you expect a large boar to
have and he is delicious. Another side effect of neutering him is that he never developed large tusks, not necessarily a bad thing unless you hunt for the tusks. Paul says he prefer to eat them than to just look at them, so he was happy with the large amounts of tasty hogmeat.
Paul says he has seen tracks that rival the size of the 400 pounder on many occasions.
