Proof: 2nd Cougar In Marquette County, Michigan

A second trail camera photo of a cougar from Marquette County, Michigan has been verified by the Department of Natural Resources. This photo, possibly the same cougar was taken July 18.

The slight increase in verified cougars in recent years is surely a result of more cougar in the state than say a decade ago but still, all this really means is that OTHER nearby populations in the Dakato's have grown. No juvenile cougars have been confirmed.

This uptick in sightings could just be a brief trend that will soon reverse itself as the killing of cougars in the Dakato's via quota hunts has greatly increased as officials there try to knock the cougar population way down due to fear and selfishness (competition for deer).
