Twinspot Red Snapper also known as two-spot red snapper is an inhabitant of The Indian and Pacific Oceans from Africa to Australia, North to Tiawan and Japan.

The young and some adults such as the one pictured above have two silvery-white spots on back but most large adults are mostly plain red.

These snapper inhabits coral reefs and sheltered lagoons. They are usually solitary but on some of the unpressured Islands they can be found in small groups. They eat mainly fish but will also eat shrimps, crabs, etc.

The larger fish have been found to cause Ciguatera poisoning and the sale of the fish in a few places is illegal because of it.
