The spotted tilapia live in calm fresh are brackish waters native to West Africa. The fish above was caught in the Miami area. Spotted tilapia have expanded their range to include areas of South Florida, Nevada and Australia.
Spotted tilapia feed on super small organisms such as phytoplankton although they are caught by fisherman using bait such as dough balls.
