Spotbanded Scat

Pictured above is a spotbanded scat. These are some interesting fish. They have fin spines with a venomous gland at the base of each spine, so caution must be exercised when handleing these fish. Another interesting note is that although the juveniles are frequently sold in aquarium shops for freshwater tanks; the fish is actually a saltwater species that frequents fresh and brackish water when a juvenile.

The Banded Scat, another common name for the fish, feeds on small invertebrates and detritus.

They occur in the Western Pacific throughout some of indonesia and parts of Australia.
