The Silk Snapper or Yellow Eye Snapper is a relatively small snapper usually less than 5 pounds. The are often confused with Red Snapper but they have one glaring difference which make it easy to identify them from Red Snapper... their eyes. Silk snapper have bright yellow eyes.
Silk snapper are well know in the Bahamas and South Florida but are often misidentified in other parts of the range where they are not as abundant.
