Shovelnose Guitarfish - Rhinobatos productus

Shovelnose Guitarfish - Rhinobatos productus is yellow-brownish on top and white underneath. Its body shape is somewhat between that of a shark and a skate.

The Shovelnose Guitarfish reaches a maximum size of about 5 feet. They are found in shallow waters over sandy or mud bottoms. Shovelnose Guitarfish can be found from northern California to the Gulf of California. Despite there relation to sharks and stingrays the Shovelnose Guitarfish is quite harmless to people.
