The Sand Tilefish is the most often caught of the tilefish because it inhabits shallower water than other tilefish. Sand Tilefish build mounds rocks and shell fragments and when frightened, they hide in the mounds. Sand Tilefish feed on crustaceans and small fish. They range from North Carolina all the way to Brazil!
