Rudd Scardinius erthropthalmus are a fish native to Europe, and central Asia. Rudd have been illegally introducted into New Zealand many years ago and have now been turning up in the US.

Rudd is a deep bodied fish somewhat resembleing a large fat golden shiner or moonfish. It's back is olive, sides silver green and its belly is white, with the fins usually have a reddish color to them.

The fish above was caught on a broken back minnow, a lure used by fisherman for such fish as bass. Location was Harlan Co. lake in Nebraska.
