The Redspot Chub Nocomis asper is a fairly easy to identify because of the prominent red dot behind the head. The redspot chub usually inhabits clear creeks and small to medium rivers. It occurs only with a limited range from Missouri to southeastern Kansas, northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas.
