Red Sea Houndfish (Tylosurus choram) are in the needlefish family and live in the Red Sea the Gulf of Oman and have now entered the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal. Identification can be tricky. Dorsal rays, location of dorsal and anal fin and proportion of head, body, and beak must be used to differentiate from other houndfish found in the same waters.
