Oscar Fish - Astronotus ocellatus


oscarOscar Fish - Astronotus ocellatus are a very popular aquarium fish. Freshwater fish the oscar can reach sizes quite large and people often feed their oscars things such as lizards caught around the house. This oscar was apparently released into the wild in the Edisto River in South Carolina. It was caught on rod and reel.

Pictured below is a Red Oscar. Less common but just as agressive and just as large. This one was caught in Horn Pond which is in Massachusetts.
