The Mottled spinefoot Siganus fuscescens inhabits the Western Pacific from South Korea, through Papua New Guinea down to Australia.
Body olive green or brown above, silvery below, fish frequently with a dark patch below origin of lateral line. They become mottled when frightened. Be careful of the venomous spines. Inhabits seagrass flats and shallow lagoon and coastal reefs. A schooling fish that feeds on algae when you and algae and seagrasses when older.
