Mottled Sculpin - Cottus bairdi

The mottled sculpin, Cottus bairdii is a freshwater sculpin that ranges from northern Alabama to Canada in the east and throughout the northern Rockies to the west they are however not found between these to areas. Sculpins prefer clear, flowing freshwater streams.

Color is variable depending on the enviroment. Colors range from brown to grey. Sculpins feed on a variety of foods, caddisflies, crawfish, worms, eggs and other similiar food items that happen to come along.
