Longnose Sucker Catostomus catostomus

The longnose sucker is widely distributed from Siberia and Alaska across Canada and the northern U.S. Longnose suckers are found in cold-water lakes and streams. Spawning occurs in riffle areas of streams. Females produce 14,000 to 60,000 eggs depending on the size of the fish.

The Longnose Sucker may reach 7 pounds in some parts of their range, but in other areas they never attain such large size. In some areas of its range, this species is fished commercially for human consumption.
