The lingcod, Ophiodon elongatus is the only living member of the genus Ophiodon and is in no way related to cods or ling as the name implies. The lingcod is native of the Gulf of Alaska to Baja California, Mexico. The lingcod reaches weights of over 100 pounds.
Lingcod are good eating and prized by anglers despite there ugly appearance.
