
The Greater Weever is a small fish with an elongated, slightly tapering body. Its mouth is large and the eyes are positioned on top of the head. First dorsal is small with lots of black towards its front. The second dorsal is long and runs along most of the rest of the length of the body.
WARNING: These fish are quite dangerous!!! Both the spines of the first dorsal fin and the spines on the head around the gill covers are venomous.
The range of the Greater Weever is in the Eastern Atlantic from Norway to Morocco and both the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
