Giant Guitarfish - Rhynchobatus djiddensis

The Giant Guitarfish (Rhynchobatus djiddensis) are often seen by snorklers and scuba divers laying on the ocean floor. Guitarfish can grow quite large and weigh hundreds of pounds. Despite their size and sharklike appearance they are quite harmless to people.

Giant guitarfish feed on crabs, lobsters, clams and small fish. Various species of guitarfish are found throughout many of the oceans but are usually restricted to living in relatively shallow waters.
