Gafftopsail Catfish

The Gafftopsail (Bagre marinus) is easily recognized by it's very long dorsal spine and it's 2 very long barbels on each side of its mouth.

Gafftops spawn in the spring and the male carries the fertilized eggs in its mouth until they hatch and can feed on their own.

Unlike hardheads, gafftops are considered very good table fare.
