Flame Snapper inhabit the waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The range from East Africa eastward to the Hawaiian Islands, Japan and south to Australia.
One of the distinguishing features of the Flame Snapper is that the upper part of the tail fin becomes elongated with age. The color is always deep pink to red. Flame Snapper inhabit rocky bottoms and feed on small fish, squid and Crustaceans.
