The baby fish pictured above is probably that of a baby planehead filefish ( Monacanthus hispidus ). These file fish are small fish that only reach sizes of 9 inches in length.
They inhabit the Atlantic waters from Novia Scotia all the way to Brazil. The occur on the open seas and around shore near vegetation. These fish are extremely common within the Sargassum weed.
