The European plaice is colored brownish like most other species of flatfish but has irregularly spaced orange spots and a small mouth. Like other flatfish their color is adjusted to match their surroundings so keep that in mind as this will adjust the color of the fish somewhat but the orange spots always remain visible.
Plaice occupy the Northeast Atlantic from Greenland and Norway south to Morocco; Spain and France.
