Dolphin, Mahi Mahi, Dorado

Here is a picture of a Dolphin. This fish goes by many other names, such as Mahi Mahi, origin Hawaii and Dorado, origin Mexico. Dolphin are fine eating but they will get your boat quite bloody. They aren't like most fish which will quickly loose energy after being boated. These fish will continue to thrash violently doing there best to enpale you on the hooks as you try to remove them. Pliers are a must.
Dolphin a blue water fish that are most often caught along rips with Sargassmo weed. There are actually two species that look identical. The only difference is that they vary greatly in size. The smaller much more numerous dolphin are schooling fish that only reach a few pounds in weight. They are commonly referred to as Chicken Dolphin.
The larger species can reach weights in excess of 50 pounds. They are often called bull dolphin. Large dolphin are a prized sportfish.
Both species are fast growing, have high metabolisms, and change color with their emotional state. They live and feed at the surface in blue waters offshore. Rarely coming in water shallower than 100 feet.
