Common Carp were first introduced into the United States during the late 1880s by the United States Fish Commission as a food fish. Common carp didn't quite pan out like they had hoped. The carp have been detrimental to native fish populations and have never been regarded with much esteme in the US. A small group of devoute fisherman and lately bowfisherman have been targeting Carp but they are still in the minority. Carp are caught on dough balls, cheese, corn, and worms.

Common carp reach weights of up to 60 pounds.
