Brook Stickleback - Culaea inconstans

The Brook Stickleback is easily identified by four completely separated dorsal spines and is a small scaleless fish.

Brook sticklebacks inhabits a range of shallow water habitats of the northern hemisphere in colder climates.

Brook stickleback spawn from late April to Mid-June. The males select and defend territories in which to build their nests. Females then lay adhesive eggs in the nest. Adult brook sticklebacks eat insects, crustacians, snails, fish eggs and even algae.

Brook stickleback average between 1.5 and 3 inches in length.
