The Blackbanded Seaperch (Hypoplectrodes annulatus) can be recognised by its color patterns. The Black-banded Seaperch has six dark verticle bands on the bod and several diagonal bands on the head. They can easily be confused with a similar species also sometimes called black-banded sea perch.
They occur along the Australia coast from southern Queensland to the central coast of Victoria. The prefer is found on inshore rock reefs and rocky outcroppings.
