This fish was caught in 980 ft. of water east of Ft. Lauderdale in august of '01. Barrelfish Range from Nova Scotia to Southern Florida and the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. They live in deep water over the continental slope. Young barrelfish live on the surface around floating debris. Barrelfish feed on small fishes and crustaceans. I know of one that was caught off the Louisiana coast out of Venice.
