Atlantic spadefish Chaetodipterus faber are silvery gray in color with a few vertical black curvy stripes. Juveniles are found inshore and they quickly migrate to deeper waters of the coast when they get a little size to them.
Spadefish are found off the coast of Florida, the Bahamas throughout the Gulf of Mexico south all the way to Brazil. They feed plankton and jellyfish for the most part.
