adult arawanaArawana also known as aruana are a fish of the Amazon Basin. They are popular food fish, sport fish, as well as aquarium fish.
Arawana grow to quite large. Arawana is not a species that we are all that knowledgeable about. They are in fact mouth brooders and the young will keep an eggsack attached to them until they leave the mouth. Pictured here ar juvenile arwana.

A common name for them is "Amazonian Monkey Jumper" as they can use their tail to propel themselves out of the water suprisingly well
