Goldenrod are one of the last big flower available each year. There are numerous species of goldenrods all with a similiar look, most people know them collectively as Goldenrods. All Goldenrods are perennials with large clusters of small yellow flowers that appear from the end of summer until frost. The leaves of goldenrods are simple, lance or egg shaped and usually have a toothed margin. They are common in pastures under heavy grazing pressure.

The only wildlife value of Goldenrods is for insects. Deer and even cows avoid goldenrod.
