Tree Identification!
bur oak - Quercus macrocarpa
 

Bur Oak: Leaves are alternate and simple, 6 to 12 inches long, with many lobes. The two middle sinuses always nearly reach the midrib of the leaf.

Acorns are large (1 1/2 inches long) and 1/2 enclosed in a warty cap that has a long-fringed margin. The acorns maturing in one year and drop August to November.

The bark is gray to brown in color and scaly. You can notice ridges in the bark that run vertically.

A medium-sized are large tree that develops a very spreading, broad crown.
