American Elm
 

American Elm - Ulmus americana: A tree 80 to 120 feet tall. The base is always fluted. The leaves are alternate, simple, 4-6 inches long and 2-3 inches wide. Fruit is a green or occasionally red seed surrounded by a wing, 1/2 inch long with a deep notch.
Range from Newfoundland west to Rocky Mountains, South to Eastern Texas and then to Central Florida.
