We started our day at 4:00 am Fri. the 29th of April expecting to get pushed back in around noon to do some flats fishing due to the predicted weather forecast. Our plan was to go 35 nm offshore out of Keaton Beach but it was a bit rough early that morning so we stopped at 17 nm in 45 feet of water and caught the first fish at 6:50am. By 8:00am we had 9 fish in the boat. We caught several shorts trolling but the good bite was on the bottom. We served up frozen squid, sardines, and live sardines that we were catching on the bottom. These fish after they were cleaned filled up a 5 gal bucket that weighed in at 40.3 lbs of meat. From right to left is Justin Nelson, Timmy Fike and Tommy Waldron.
