Here is a sequence of photos that show how the outdoors really is. This isn't a disney type Bambi show. Pics were taken in November behind Greg Newcombs house in Oklahoma. The successful hunters are 2 coyotes. The unlucky hen has a lot of swelling around her eye. Maybe that explains why she didn't try to get away.
